Saudagar — the Malay word for merchant.
Long before there were roads, Indian merchants sailed across the Indian Ocean carrying brass vessels filled with precious spices. They arrived on Malayan shores — bringing cloves, cardamom, black pepper, and turmeric. They traded along the rivers, built communities in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and helped finance the very landmarks that define this city — including the building you are sitting in today.
Their recipes travelled with them. Passed from brass pot to brass pot, kitchen to kitchen, generation to generation. Some of these dishes are now centuries old. Some are nearly forgotten.
Saudagar exists to keep them alive. This is not fusion. This is not modern. This is heritage — served where the story began.
